Sunday School
Living in Faith Everyday, or L.i.F.E., is the curriculum and theme that runs through our Sunday School Program here at DPC. Well-attended classes are held weekly for children and youth starting with Pre-K and carrying through Senior High School. These classes are led by exceptional teachers (two for each class) who volunteer their talents, experience, time and faith to guide our children on a journey of spiritual formation. It is our goal to give each child a strong foundation in the Christian tradition, one that will help them to mature in the Faith as they mature throughout their lives. All Children are welcome to join the fun each week from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.
Adult Christian Education
Adult Christian Education Classes are held Sunday mornings from 9:45 am to 10:30 am with a series of classes throughout the year ranging from the study of Scripture to book club-type discussions. These classes are designed to offer something for everyone - whether you approach your faith from the head or from the heart. There are generally two classes running simultaneously, and they are usually held for a 6-8 week time period. Learn about the current offerings in the Weekly Update or Sunday Bulletin.
Thursday Bible Study
A Bible Study is held the 2nd and 4th Thursday mornings of each month from 10:00 am to 12 noon in the Parlor. By participating in this study you will explore God's word and reflect upon the meaning it has in your life and the life of those around you. People of all ages are encouraged to come and grow in the knowledge of God's love and compassion. This time spent together helps to empower and equip you to answer God's call in your life, grow in your faith, and develop new ways to serve God's people.
Bible Study for Mothers of Small Children
Each summer we have a Mothers of Small Children Bible Study. This group meets for approximately seven weeks once school is out for the summer. We share dinner with the children at 5:30 p.m. in the Church Social Hall, and following dinner the children are taken for play time with a caregiver. The caregiver is paid by the participants. During the play time, the Moms have their time for Bible Study - the group is working its way through the "Sisters" series published by Abington Press. These studies bring the study of scripture to our lives today and show us how the Bible matters in our busy lives. The ladies take turns supplying dinner and leading the group discussion, which includes a brief 15-minute video. It has been a terrific experience and a great way to get to know each other on a more intimate level. One of our faithful attendees even wrote a blog about our group on a Christian website! Please feel free to join us each summer as we have fellowship, fun, and develop relationships.
Library
While visiting the Church, please take a few moments to stop by our Library located just outside Fellowship Hall. The DPC Library strives to provide a variety of materials for the congregation and visitors in order to enhance understanding of the Reformed Tradition and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), as well as assist members in strengthening their faith by supporting spiritual growth and development.
Personal Reflection and Study
All members are encouraged to adopt a daily habit of personal reflection, study and prayer as an important part of their spiritual development. At the following link, you will find readings from the daily lectionary, the mission yearbook and the study catechism. You may also elect to receive a daily devotional email.
