Worship

The worship of God is a primary element of Darnestown Presbyterian Church's life as a faith community, responding to the grace of God in Jesus Christ. In worship we express our gratitude and join with God's people in listening for the Word of the Lord for our day. God's Word is proclaimed in Scripture and sermon and music each Sunday from September through June at 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. During June, July and August there is one service, 10:00 a.m. each Sunday.

Dr. David R. McNeilly and Rev. Tamara Leonard Lara lead the congregation to a greater understanding of God's Word, encouraging listeners to actively respond in word and deed.

The Director of Music/Organist, Michael Hooper, strives to provide a lively ministry of music through the Choirs: Chancel Choir, Youth Choir, Teen Choir and Bell Ringers.  All choirs are volunteer and all are welcome to participate.

Special services highlight the Advent/Christmas season with the culmination on Christmas Eve. Lent provides a unique opportunity for special services preparing the congregation for the celebration of the resurrection on Easter.

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper is celebrated the first Sunday of each month, as well as Session-designated times during Lent/ Easter, and Advent/Christmas.

Between worship services, congregation members and visitors gather in the Fellowship Hall of the Andrew Small Building for coffee, lemonade, and fellowship.
